Managing editor of an online technical support community- I worked on Novell's website in the "Cool Solutions" area. This area was a community designed for the readers, and the content provided was reader driven. I wrote original articles and tips or edited contributions from developers or readers (and provided some of the graphics). Fresh content was posted at least weekly. I also played on the community aspect by having surveys, contests, and share-a-tip to get the readers involved. The Cool Solutions sites were the 3rd most popular spot on Novell's web site (behind only the main page and support).

As a web developer, I have coded in HTML, Perl, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, XML/RSS, and have used databases such as MYSQL, POSTGRESQL, and MSAccess. I use Adobe and Macromedia tools (Photoshop, FLASH, Dreamweaver).

This experience includes consulting, instructing, graphic design, attention to usability issues, image optimization, database integration, and web server administration.

I currently run an Apache/Linux web server.

My own nature photography website (www.wildthingsphoto.com) was listed in Popular Photography as 1 of 4 "Best of the Web" on nature photography.

I have done volunteer work on the web pages for the National Wildlife Federation, NANPA and ASMP national organizations.

I have several years experience with Adobe Photoshop (and was an instructor at the Salt Lake Art Center for 7 years) and various plug-ins, and proficiency with other image manipulation software and graphics tools. I am an accomplished digital artist and photographer, and digital retoucher.

I have also created several designs for print including ad pieces, CD covers, and greeting cards.

Finally, I have developed a multimedia screen saver CD which includes images and music.

As a freelance photographer, I supply photographs to various publications, as well as to individuals and businesses as wall art. I have won international awards, and have had my images in various galleries and publications nationwide. My portfolio (www.Writer-Photographer.com) includes traditional photography and digital imaging.

I have lead seminars and workshops on various aspects of Nature Photography with the Salt Lake Art Center, the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, the Wyoming Outdoor Council, NANPA (North American Nature Photographer's Association), ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers), The Audubon Society Weekend Workshops (Nature Photography) and Inkley's Education Week (Nature Photography). I have been published in PCPhoto magazines on various topics dealing with digital imaging, and also in Photo Techniques magazine.

As the owner of a small business, I am responsible for not only producing the product, but Q/A testing, filing, packaging and presentation, marketing, accounting, customer service and support.

During these years at Novell, I did many things including coding, hardware and software testing and troubleshooting, support, training, web server administration, and technical writing. This included writing sample code and technical articles, and maintaining relationships with customers. My technical articles were published either in Novell’s various paper publications or on their web site.
I developed and presented technical instruction for many Brainshare user's conferences (including in the US, France, and Australia), and the traveling Developer Workshop tour (we toured several cities around the US and South America). I developed CBTs on HTML and Perl, and presented sessions on perl, web scripting, Novell's web options, and WebSphere.
